Creating Dream Bedrooms and Dressing Rooms : A Residential Interior Design Journey

When our client acquired a new home, they embarked on a journey to transform the space into their ideal living environment. Initially collaborating with David Jackson-Crane Architecture to bring their bedroom and dressing room design vision to life, our full-service interior design studio then extended our expertise to craft an end-to-end interior design solution for the entire property.

This project included an open living area on the ground floor and the upper floor, where we meticulously designed and built a sumptuous master bedroom and a spacious dressing room. This blog post will provide insight into the design process and creative decisions that contributed to these spaces.

Ground Floor Transformation

Before delving into the interior and spatial design upstairs, let's first explore the remarkable transformation that unfolded on the ground floor of the house. Our full-service residential design expertise was employed to craft an open living area, harmoniously uniting the kitchen, lounge, dining room, and utility space. The primary objective was to establish a seamless, welcoming environment that would serve as the heart of the home, fostering togetherness and practicality. Notably, we also redesigned the entrance, making it more light and spacious.

The open living area was designed with a meticulous balance of aesthetics and functionality. A neutral colour palette was deliberately chosen to cultivate a sense of unity and serenity throughout the space. This allowed various decorative elements to shine, while the strategic use of materials, including wood and stone, introduced depth and texture to the design. The result was a versatile space where the client could entertain, unwind, and enjoy daily.

Mastering the Bedroom

As we moved upstairs, the focus shifted towards crafting a master bedroom that would serve as a sanctuary. A thorough collaboration and understanding of our client's requirements led to the design of a warm and intimate atmosphere in the generously sized room.

Bespoke Oak Headboard: To instil a sense of warmth and intimacy, our full-service interior design studio created a bespoke oak headboard that perfectly complemented the room. This headboard, beyond being a visual centrepiece, also integrated storage, enhancing both functionality and aesthetics.

Dressing Room Interior and Spatial Design

The next challenge was the transformation of one of the existing bedrooms into a luxurious dressing room that would not only house our client's clothing but also showcase fashion pieces.

Lighting and Mirror: Our spatial design consultants meticulously planned the lighting and mirror placement within the dressing room, ensuring a comfortable and inspiring environment for trying on clothes. Ample lighting, coupled with strategically positioned full-length mirrors, turned outfit selection into a creative and uplifting process.

Co-ordinated Oak Design: To maintain a harmonious design theme, oak was employed in the dressing room to harmonise with the bedroom, creating a warm and light-toned ambience that seamlessly connected the two spaces.

Shoe Storage: An additional room was dedicated to housing our client's shoe collection. Here, we used black valchromat and innovative lighting to give the impression of floating shoes, turning them into the stars of the show and infusing an intriguing element into the space.
